Roses are special flowers for everyone. I love to
paint the soft petals and imagine the sun releasing
their gentle fragrance.
I'm lucky that my studio is surrounded with roses.
In fact, Portland, Oregon, where I live, is called
the "City of Roses". Many gardeners
have wonderful displays of these flowers.
The biggest garden is the fabulous International
Rose Test Garden which has 9,000 plants in
560 varieties.
The huge Rose Festival
every June attracts visitors from all over the
world. My rose paintings have won many prizes
during the festival.
