How I Work

My studio is in my home.  In fact, my family thinks the whole house is my studio.  I display paintings in the living room, I paint oils in my studio, I frame pictures in the dining room, I select photographs in the family room, I study cyberart in the den, and I paint pastels on the deck.  I listen to music while working, and play my piano during breaks.

On weekends, I go with my husband, Roger Ray, in search of material for my paintings.  We have found many wonderful spots in Oregon, including beautiful forests and beaches.  The Portland Waterfront Park, where children run through the fountain, is a favorite place.  The Portland International Rose Test Garden has fabulous roses.  Also, two of the worlds largest Iris growers, Schreiner's and Cooley's, are nearby.

We also have been fortunate to travel overseas and to find fascinating scenes of daily life.

How This Web Site Was Built

[RCR] Roger is my photographer; I paint from his pictures.

Also, he designed and implemented my web site.  He worked hard to get quick download speed and good appearance while being compatible with both Navigator and Explorer.  Quite a bit of technology is needed.  His imaging tools include an HP color scanner, an HP color printer, a Snappy video capture system, a Canon EOS SLR camera, and a Pentium Pro system running Adobe Photoshop, the MKS Unix shell, and Perl.  The site is built automatically from an Access database using a suite of Java programs and KShell scripts he wrote.  The pages also use various JavaScript and CGI scripts that he wrote.
